The first inkling we had that we were indeed in the wild west came at Bullock's grocery store in Truth or Consequences (T or C) the morning we left the last day of our journey to Birdsong Ranch.
We didn't really take it all that seriously. After all, nobody we'd seen had been packing. Or rather, we hadn't seen any obvious signs of arms in any place but sleeves. When we arrived in Benson, the largest urban centre near Birdsong, we had a second inkling.
Still, everyone we met seemed rational, non-aggressive, all those good things. After a day to settle into the new place, we headed off to the nearest tourist attraction, Tombstone. Location of probably the most famous gunfight in the history of the west, Showdown at OK Corral. Now we're thinking we need to be paying closer attention...
At least we know where we need to go if we need anything....
