Signs of the times

After three long days of driving through miles and miles of miles and miles, we arrived in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, a short, 4-hour drive from our actual destination.

Truth or Consequences? You might well ask. We assumed something to do with a riveting, wild west misadventure. (Well, wouldn't anybody?)
Turns out it was much, much more pedestrian. Apparently, there was a television show in thye early 50s by that name, and they offered to broadcast the initial, as in the very first, edition of the show from the first town to rename itself Truth or Consequences. Cheesy, non? And side by each with Elephant Butt.... er, Elephant Butte.

Yesterday, on our longest driving day on record (12 hours. Straight. No breaks.), we also passed through Last Chance, Colorado. We don't know whose last chance, or last chance for what, but somebody blew it.
Don't have a picture of it, but Mr. T washed down his dinner tonight with a bottle of Roswell alien amber ale. He pronounced it delish. I'm on tenterhooks. It's only a matter of time before the weirdness begins.

  1. So, um...made by aliens? Or made OUT of aliens?

I'd say the weirdness already started. Elephant butt. Heh.
